GREENHOUSES

Glass or polycarbonate, these climate controllable enclosed structures allow in natural light and can be augmented with artificial lighting.

HOOP HOUSES / HIGH TUNNELS

These semi-circular tunnel-shaped structures typically have a metal hoop substructure with a plastic covering.

INDOOR VERTICAL FARMS

Fully enclosed and opaque rooms with vertical growing systems that use artificial lighting. Often an adapted industrial space; sometimes called a ‘plant factory.’

CONTAINER FARMS

Self-contained growing units that employ vertical farming systems and artificial lighting. Usually standardized for ease of replication, and often a retrofitted shipping container.

IN-HOME SYSTEMS

Small-scale growing unit with artificial lighting, which can be free-standing or table-top. Targeted for consumer use in home settings.
