Seedway® to acquire vegetable seed business assets of Champion Seed Company

Effective September 1, 2018, Seedway, LLC will acquire the vegetable seed business assets of Champion Seed Company. Since 1959, Champion Seed Company has become a trusted commercial vegetable seed provider to growers throughout Mexico, West Coast, Pacific Northwest, South Central, and Southeast United States.

Upon conclusion of the acquisition on September 4, 2018, Champion Seed Company will then operate and market vegetable seed products under the Seedway Brand.

Spider Mites and Aphids – time to take control

With the hot dry weather we have been having, spider mites are beginning to become an issue. The two-spotted spider mites are usually more prevalent in areas of heavier drought stress. We have begun to get more rain which will deter the mites slightly, but they may have already laid eggs on the plants.

A travel through time with Seedway®

Seedway’s origins began in 1923 with the formation of Robson Seed Farms, a mail order vegetable and seed business in Hall, NY. In the 1960’s a second business began operation, Robson Quality Seeds, the marketing arm of Robson Seed Farms. In 1963, Carl Fribolin of Geneva, NY joined Robson Quality Seeds and the Seedway foundation was laid, with the ownership and name officially changing in 1971.

Seedway, LLC has acquired the assets of Wise Seed Company, Inc., Frostproof, FL from the Wise family who owned and operated the business for 48 years. Nearly 50 years and three generations later, the Wise family provided a high level of custom harvest service and seed to their customers throughout the Central and South Florida region.

Seedway® to acquire assets of Reed’s Seeds

Seedway, LLC, is pleased to announce an agreement to acquire certain assets of Reed’s Seeds Vegetable Seed and Hot Water Seed Treatment Business, Cortland, New York. Reed’s is a multi-generation seed business started in 1909. Donald Reed the current owner/operator will retire at the end of the year. SEEDWAY will commence seed sales and service to Reed’s Seeds customers beginning January 2, 2017.

Seedway, LLC, has acquired the assets of the Merritt Seed Company, Baldwinsville, NY from Stanley M. Boots. Mr. Boots owned and operated the turf seed business for over sixty years. Stan, his wife Donna, and longtime employee Matthew Bartkowiak provided a high level of quality service to contractors, golf courses, municipalities, and school districts across much of New York State and beyond.
